Flash remarks from MHP to CHP figure: Ali Mahir, don't jump around too much, or you'll end up like a grasshopper

Following the detention of IMM Mayor Ekrem İmamoğlu, the "street" call made by CHP Chairman Özgür Özel has sparked a new polemic with the MHP.

While MHP Chairman Devlet Bahçeli said, "A warning to CHP Chairman Özgür Özel. Respect the judiciary, sit in your party," Özel responded by saying, "Listen to the voice of the nation, stand against the coup."

CHP Group Deputy Chairman Ali Mahir Başarır attacked Bahçeli with scathing words during a live broadcast he attended. Başarır said, "Shut your mouth, lie in your sickbed, be quiet now!"

A very harsh response came to Başarır from the MHP. MHP Deputy Chairman İzzet Ulvi Yönter said the following in a statement on his social media account: "Ali Mahir, don't jump around too much, or you'll end up like a grasshopper... Shut your filth-spewing mouth, cut off and throw away your poisonous tongue... Know your place, mind your manners. You are all mourners at a funeral house and drummers at a wedding house... If you aren't the biggest schemer, be polite, you registered provocateur..."
