MHP members had filed a complaint: New development in the trial of Kılıçdaroğlu

The first hearing of the trial in which former CHP Chairman Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu is being prosecuted for 'praising a crime and a criminal,' following a complaint filed by MHP members Feti Yıldız, İzzet Ulvi Yönter, and İsmail Faruk Aksu, was held today (December 3).

HEARING ADJOURNED

Kılıçdaroğlu's lawyer, Kadri Gökhan Sultan, attended the hearing. Kılıçdaroğlu did not attend the hearing, having submitted an excuse due to his busy political schedule. Consequently, the hearing was adjourned until April 10 at 09:30.

WHAT HAD HAPPENED?

Following the investigation conducted by the Ankara Chief Public Prosecutor's Office Parliamentary Crimes Investigation Bureau upon the complaints of MHP Deputy Chairmen Feti Yıldız, İzzet Ulvi Yönter, and İsmail Faruk Aksu, an indictment was prepared on January 31 requesting that Kılıçdaroğlu be punished for the 'crime of praising a crime and a criminal in a chain manner.'

In their complaint petitions, the MHP members cited the remarks made by the then-CHP Chairman Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu regarding the detention decision of Selahattin Demirtaş, his various statements concerning the YPG, PKK, and ISIS, his remarks directed at the YSK regarding the 2019 Istanbul elections that were later annulled, and his statements regarding FETÖ.
