MHP MP supports footballer penalized for betting: Announces he will cover his salary!

Abdulsamet Burak, whom Kayserispor added to its squad from Adana Demirspor this season, was recently handed a 12-month ban from football over allegations of betting.

MHP Kayseri MP Baki Ersoy expressed his support for Abdulsamet Burak, who has been suspended from football for 12 months, in a statement shared on his Instagram account.

"I WILL PAY OUR BROTHER'S SALARY TO OUR CLUB"

Ersoy used the following expressions in his post:

"I convey my best wishes to our footballer, my brother Abdulsamet Burak. It is impossible for us not to stand by him regarding this unfortunate incident he is experiencing due to a mistake he made 5 years ago—without knowing it constituted a crime, and as those who know us would guess, he would not have done it with his own ID number had he known—as those who know us would expect.

A footballer is not raised easily, and if this is a mistake, it stems from a lack of awareness, and every individual can make mistakes. Therefore, we will stand by our brother, who is a part of our community, today and tomorrow, just as we did yesterday.

Being a great community, in my opinion, requires this. No matter the circumstances, in good times and bad, we will do what is befitting of us. To ensure our club does not suffer any financial loss, I hereby announce that I will personally pay our brother's salary to our club for the 1-year duration of his ban, and I present my respects to all our Kayserispor fans and supporters. Our passion is Kayserispor"
