Nationalist Movement Party (MHP) Muğla Provincial Chair Oğuz Akarfırat has resigned from his post.
Journalist İsmail Saymaz stated that the resignation of MHP Muğla Provincial Chair Oğuz Akarfırat was prompted by allegations of 'human smuggling' behind the scenes.
12punto has uncovered the details of the process.
It is alleged that a conflict broke out between some individuals linked to the PKK terrorist organization and others on board a vessel that departed from Marmaris in October and was heading to the Greek island of Rhodes.
It was claimed that those attempting the illegal crossing did not have any refugee status and were Turkish citizens wanted for terrorism-related crimes.
While the incident that took place in October was kept from the public, the Marmaris Chief Public Prosecutor's Office immediately imposed a confidentiality order. Due to the confidentiality order regarding the case, for which 12punto has obtained the file number, the prosecutor's office has not provided any information.
It was reported that the prosecutor's office is acting cautiously in conducting the investigation process and that the relevant authorities are awaiting a report from Rhodes.
