MHP's Feti Yıldız explains: 'There is only one condition for Öcalan'

MHP Deputy Chairman responsible for Legal and Election Affairs Feti Yıldız has made a striking statement regarding PKK leader Abdullah Öcalan, following his remarks on sick prisoners regarding "suspending the execution of sentences until recovery." 

Responding to questions from Barış Pehlivan of Cumhuriyet newspaper, Feti Yıldız stated that he had brought up his remarks regarding sick prisoners last year and in 2022, but that they did not attract attention because Öcalan's situation was not on the agenda. 

When asked by Pehlivan, who recalled his words "Suspending the execution of a sentence until recovery should not be a matter of debate" and asked whether this had any connection to PKK leader Abdullah Öcalan, Yıldız replied: "There is only one condition for Öcalan to benefit from this. A Forensic Medicine report is needed stating that he is sick to the point where he cannot meet his own needs. If that exists, it applies to Ahmet as well as Mehmet."

Yıldız rejected claims of a general amnesty, saying, "The conditions for a general amnesty do not exist in Turkey."
