MHP proposes SCT exemption for electronic devices for university students

Nationalist Movement Party (MHP) Deputy Chairman and Kayseri MP İsmail Özdemir announced in a statement on his social media account that they have submitted a legislative proposal to parliament aimed at abolishing the Special Consumption Tax (SCT) on electronic device purchases by university students.

Özdemir used the following expressions in his post:

"As the People's Alliance, we had previously implemented a tax reduction for our young brothers and sisters who are university students, provided they meet certain conditions when purchasing mobile phones, tablets, and computers. With the new legislative proposal we have submitted to the TBMM, we have proposed that our young university student brothers and sisters be completely exempt from the Special Consumption Tax on the electronic devices they purchase, without any restrictions—meaning regardless of price or origin—provided that they use them for two years. As the MHP, we will continue our efforts to ensure our proposal becomes law."
