MHP Provincial Chair explains Bahçeli's Öcalan call: 'We did not encounter a negative reaction'

Nationalist Movement Party (MHP) Kayseri Provincial Chair Enes Ertuğrul Kalın met with members of the press.

Stating that the MHP is the largest party in Kayseri, Kalın said, "I say this independently of the vote percentage. The Nationalist Movement Party is a party that, in every situation where our country or our province is in distress, puts not just its hand but its entire body under the stone without hesitation and without calculating votes. We will strive to continue this understanding in Kayseri," he said.

Kalın said the following at the meeting:

"As is known, our country's institutions are defined as legislative, executive, and judicial. The legislature makes laws, the executive implements the law, and the judiciary oversees it. But it is the media that performs this same oversight in the eyes of the nation. Therefore, I have an understanding that believes the media and the press should be added after the legislative, executive, and judicial branches. As the MHP, we will show every effort to ensure that our media broadcasts real and accurate information to our people, not indirectly but directly. We are members of a party that has been carrying out active political activities in Kayseri for 55 years.

We are the largest party in Kayseri, and I say this independently of the vote percentage. Because, as our fellow citizens will appreciate, the Nationalist Movement Party is a party that, in every situation where our country or our province is in distress, puts not just its hand but its entire body under the stone without hesitation and without calculating votes. Providing information about the work they will do since taking office, Chair Kalın said, "We have seen that there are serious problems regarding the electricity debts of our farmers, irrigation unions, and irrigation cooperatives. Even though our citizens in the city center are not very aware of it, agriculture and animal husbandry are being carried out very seriously in the countryside. I want to announce the commitment that we will take the necessary initiatives regarding these problems of both Yeşilhisar, which has 5 thousand farmers, and Develi, which has 12 thousand farmers," he said.

"WE DID NOT ENCOUNTER A NEGATIVE REACTION"

Speaking about the call made by MHP Chairman Devlet Bahçeli for Abdullah Öcalan, the leader of the terrorist organization PKK, Kalın noted the following:

"At the point of this initiative, if we only take the words 'Let Apo come out and speak at the parliamentary group meeting' in quotation marks, we would be misleading both our people and ourselves.

Afterwards, 3 more group meetings were held. In all 3 group meetings, our leader stated repeatedly that there would be no concessions in the fight against terrorism, that if a solution to this problem is desired, it could be this way, and he also referred to Öcalan by name as the terrorist leader.

Naturally, our citizens followed this, and their feedback to us was, 'If Devlet Bahçeli is making such an initiative, it must be evaluated. He knows something.' We did not encounter a negative reaction at that point."
