MHP remains silent on stray dog massacre in Ankara

While reports of 'stray dogs found dead' coming one after another from Niğde and Ankara have drawn significant backlash, animal rights advocates are stating that the stray animal law does not permit such a massacre.

While reactions to the massacre are rising from animal rights advocates and opposition parties, the silence of MHP members regarding the situation has drawn attention.

MHP Chairman Devlet Bahçeli, in a press conference he held before the proposal regarding stray animals was enacted, had said, "The Turkish nation loves animals, accepts dogs as friends, and stands against any kind of wrongdoing that would be applied to dogs. The MHP will also do what is necessary. Let no one have any doubts."
