MHP responds harshly to Abdulkadir Selvi's Kavala proposal to AKP: 'For spring to come...'

Hürriyet columnist Abdulkadir Selvi's remarks regarding Osman Kavala and the Gezi detainees quickly became a topic of discussion, and the response from the MHP was not delayed.

"FOR SPRING TO COME TO TURKEY..."

In his column, Selvi stated, "What is the benefit to Turkey of keeping Osman Kavala in prison and having the Gezi detainees spend years in jail? What benefit does it provide to the AK Party?", which drew a very harsh reaction from MHP Social Media Manager Hüseyin Özkan.

In a statement on his social media account, Özkan quoted Selvi's article and used the expressions, "Abdülkadir Selvi, who uttered these words, is null and void. He is trash. He is a remnant of the sword!"

Özkan further added, "For a spring climate to come to Turkey, the retirement of Selvi and his derivatives will be sufficient."

WHAT HAD HAPPENED?

Hürriyet columnist Abdulkadir Selvi had offered advice to the AKP in his column today and said the following:

"This would be a step that would also relieve Turkey. What is the benefit to Turkey of keeping Osman Kavala in prison and having the Gezi detainees spend years in jail? What benefit does it provide to the AK Party?

The climate needs to change and spring needs to come now.

An AK Party that has returned to its reformist identity and a Turkey walking toward its European Union goal. See how the economy flourishes then.

This is what made the AK Party, the AK Party. The formula is clear; grow the economy, expand freedoms."
