Statement on trustees from MHP

Feti Yıldız, MHP Deputy Chairman responsible for Legal and Election Affairs, revealed MHP's stance and perspective on the issue of trustees through a statement on his social media account.

While the Turkish agenda is focused on the trustee moves made by the AKP and the consequences they will bring, a notable comment on the subject has come from the AKP's alliance partner, the MHP.

Feti Yıldız, the MHP deputy chairman responsible for legal and election affairs, brought a new dimension to the debates with the statement he made on his social media account.

In his statement, Yıldız said that the trustee debates would not end under the current system and pointed to the necessity of creating a new election law for these issues to come to an end.

Feti Yıldız included the following expressions in his social media post:

"In order for the debates regarding trustee appointments and the prosecution of members of parliament not to continue,

It is essential to redefine the criteria for becoming a mayoral or parliamentary candidate.

In cases of terror-related crimes, whether a public lawsuit opened with strong suspicion of a crime and concrete evidence should be an obstacle to candidacy can be discussed cool-headedly... (without forgetting the presumption of innocence)

In any case; the time has come to create a new Election Law and Political Parties Law."
