First response from the municipality targeted by MHP's Büyükataman for a 'trustee': 'A hungry chicken dreams of a grain silo'

The first session of the November Ordinary Council Meeting of the Toroslar Municipal Council was held under the chairmanship of Mayor Abdurrahman Yıldız.

In his opening remarks, Mayor Yıldız stated that it is impossible for them to accept the arrest of Esenyurt Mayor Ahmet Özer and the appointment of a trustee in his place.

"NOT A PLACE TO BE HANDED OVER"

In his speech, Mayor Yıldız also addressed the fact that the Toroslar Municipality was targeted by MHP Secretary General İsmet Büyükataman immediately after the appointment of a trustee to the Esenyurt Municipality. Yıldız said the following:

"A Deputy Chairman of one of our parties mentioned our municipality by name and said that a trustee should also be appointed to the Toroslar Municipality. There is a saying in Anatolia—let no one take offense, but if you say something, you must be prepared for the response; a hungry chicken dreams of a grain silo. In fact, this political debate itself is perfectly suited to this Anatolian proverb.

Let no one imagine themselves as a hungry chicken in a grain silo. The Toroslar Municipality is not a grain silo. The Toroslar Municipality is not a place to be exploited or handed over to someone's cronies. We have been explaining this for 6 months. Do you know what has been happening in the Toroslar Municipality for six months? The network that had nested in the Toroslar Municipality has been removed from here.

300 workers who did not move a single stone from one place to another have been removed from the Toroslar Municipality. Those who were handing out Toroslar's money have been reported to the relevant authorities. We know what we are doing. Therefore, it is clear that we have not eaten anything forbidden, and it is clear that we will not have a stomach ache.

Toroslar Mayor Abdurrahman Yıldız also addressed the municipal staff during his council speech. Yıldız continued his speech as follows:

"I know that certain speculations are being sent from here all the way to Ankara, to the Headquarters. Do not think that these remain secret, friends. You should also watch your step.

I have been the mayor for 7 months, I have never told anyone to get up from here and sit there, I have never said I would not work with any of you. I continued to work with all of you, but do not think that the speculations you send to certain places do not reach my ears. Look, let's not fall out.

Each of us is here to serve Toroslar. You receive a salary to handle Toroslar's business, and the other colleagues working here also receive a salary to handle Toroslar's business. It makes no difference to you who the mayor is here. Therefore, focus on your work first. Do not be incited by those who imagine themselves in a grain silo. Do your job."
