Migros announces that 7,875 personnel have been brought onto the permanent staff
Migros has issued a statement regarding the operational process at its 43 distribution centers across Turkey, announcing that 7,875 personnel have been brought onto the permanent staff.
In the statement, it was noted: "As a company operating in the food sector, our main goal is to provide our society with an uninterrupted supply of safe and healthy food. To manage this vital task more sustainably, we had included 7,875 employees working at 43 distribution centers across Turkey, which were previously operated by subcontracting firms, into our company staff. With this transition, we offered our employees the opportunity to benefit from union rights under the Collective Bargaining Agreement, which approximately 45,000 of our employees in the Migros Group already enjoy, in addition to protecting their existing rights.
While the vast majority of our employees welcomed these rights and wished to start work, a group of employees, despite our repeated warnings, has continued to engage in increasingly illegal actions, halting workplace operations. More importantly, some of them have begun to threaten workplace safety by engaging in verbal harassment and physical interference against our colleagues who wish to work.
At this point, parting ways with these individuals who continue to engage in unlawful actions has become mandatory not only for ensuring the continuity of the food supply chain but also for the sake of employee safety and workplace peace. Our responsibility is not only to ensure the continuity of our business but also to guarantee the well-being and safety of our colleagues. Therefore, the employment contracts of 141 individuals who continued their actions despite verbal and written notifications have had to be terminated within the framework of current legislation and company policies."
