Mining applications on the 4th day of the İliç mining disaster: 11 have been approved!

The Ministry of Environment, Urbanization and Climate Change received applications for 22 different mining projects. The Ministry approved 11 of these applications.

In the İliç district of Erzincan, search and rescue efforts continue after 9 workers were trapped under a landslide at a cyanide-leaching gold mine.

According to a report by Şeyda Öztürk from Cumhuriyet, while the search for the nine workers continues following the landslide at the gold mine in İliç, the Ministry of Environment, Urbanization and Climate Change has approved 11 out of 22 different mining projects.

Once operating permits are granted for these projects and work begins, an additional area the size of 190 football fields, covering forest, agricultural, and pasture lands, will be destroyed.

The mining sites that received approval are as follows:

1- The General Directorate of Infrastructure Investments' conglomerate quarry in a 24.90-hectare forest area in Düziçi, Osmaniye.

2 - Uluhan Mermer Madencilik's marble quarry project in an 18.77-hectare forest and agricultural area in Mut, Mersin.

3 - Altınsoy Madencilik's marble quarry operation in a 10,000-square-meter area in Orhaneli, Bursa.

4 - Knauf İnşaat's calcite quarry operated on 22.67 hectares of meadow and pasture land in Çelebi, Kırıkkale.

5 - Can-Mert Madencilik's limestone quarry project, which will affect a 12.40-hectare area overlapping with state forest in Karamürsel, Kocaeli.

6 - İlan Madencilik's marble quarry project, which it intends to operate on 23 hectares of forest land in Akören, Konya.

7 - The State Hydraulic Works (DSİ) 3rd Regional Directorate's clay, limestone, and andesite quarry project in a 19.55-hectare area that will affect forest soil and forest land in Emet, Kütahya.

8 - Bonusbonus Planet Elektronik's mineral exploration work in a 6,989-square-meter forest area in the Soma district of Manisa.

9 - Astaş İnşaat's basalt quarry in a 24.90-hectare forest area in Pazar, Rize.

10 - The General Directorate of State Hydraulic Works' basalt quarry operation in a 9.19-hectare agricultural and forest area in the center of Düzce.

11 - Plamiks Madencilik's crushing and screening plant on private land in Akçakoca, Düzce.
