Minister Bolat: Turkey-Ukraine Free Trade Agreement ratified by Ukraine
Minister of Trade Ömer Bolat announced that the Turkey-Ukraine Free Trade Agreement, for which the ratification process in Turkey was completed in 2024, was also ratified by the Ukrainian Parliament today.
Minister Bolat stated in a post on his social media account, "Another historic threshold has been crossed in the Turkey-Ukraine Free Trade Agreement. The Turkey-Ukraine Free Trade Agreement, for which the ratification process in our country was completed in 2024, was also ratified by the Ukrainian Parliament today.
With this important development, a significant stage has been left behind on the path to the agreement's entry into force, and the doors to a new era in economic and commercial cooperation between Turkey and Ukraine have been opened.
Our total trade volume, which was 6.2 billion dollars in 2024 and 6.6 billion dollars in 2025, increased by 10 percent in the first 6 months of the year, reaching approximately 3.2 billion US dollars.
With the agreement, approximately 90 percent of the trade between the two countries will be mutually liberalized; the competitiveness of our exporters in the Ukrainian market will be strengthened. Furthermore, with the facilities to be provided in trade in services, our logistics activities will be strengthened, and our contracting services and mutual investments will be supported under a more transparent and secure legal framework.
Thus, we will be one step closer to reaching the 10 billion US dollar target for the trade volume between our countries, which was jointly set by our President Mr. Recep Tayyip Erdoğan and Ukrainian President Mr. Volodymyr Zelenskyy.
As the Ministry of Trade of the Republic of Turkey, we wish this important development, which will further deepen our economic relations with Ukraine, to be beneficial to our exporters, our business world, and both countries" he said.
