Minister Ersoy: The most important message of Karbala is this...

Minister of Culture and Tourism Mehmet Nuri Ersoy stated, "The most important message of Karbala is this: no matter in which era or geography oppression emerges, one must stand against it. If the cry of an oppressed person rises in Palestine, Arakan, the African continent, East Turkestan, and many other places, the voice of Karbala and the call for justice of Imam Hussein are echoing there."

Speaking at the program, Minister of Culture and Tourism Mehmet Nuri Ersoy said:

"The month of Muharram is not just a period of mourning in the Alevi-Bektashi faith and cultural world, but a time of deep reflection where truth, conscience, and human dignity are remembered once again.

On this occasion, we commemorate Imam Hussein and the martyrs of Karbala, who gave their lives for the sake of truth and justice, with mercy, respect, and reverence. Imam Hussein is the beloved grandson of our Prophet, and the apple of the eye of Imam Ali and Lady Fatima. He did not struggle for position or sultanate, but for human values, and he sacrificed his life and his loved ones for this cause.

In Karbala, not only were people left thirsty, but justice, mercy, and the human conscience were also put to a great test. The Muharram fast is the spiritual expression of feeling the pain of Karbala in the heart, disciplining the self, understanding the state of the oppressed, and embracing patience on the path of truth.

This month reminds us to engage in self-reflection, to share, to show solidarity, and to strengthen the unity of hearts.

The most important message of Karbala is this: no matter in which era or geography oppression emerges, one must stand against it.

If the cry of an oppressed person rises in Palestine, Arakan, the African continent, East Turkestan, and many other places, the voice of Karbala and the call for justice of Imam Hussein are echoing there. For this reason, Imam Hussein is the leader of the oppressed not only of one era, but of all ages."
