Minister Göktaş reacts to Tanju Özcan over 'Syrian' remarks
Minister of Family and Social Services Mahinur Özdemir Göktaş expressed strong reaction, stating that the practices implemented by Bolu Mayor Tanju Özcan against Syrians are unlawful. Minister Göktaş said, "He goes on air and proudly recounts his unlawful actions with arrogance. He shamelessly talks about the persecution he inflicts on Syrians."
The 8th Ordinary Congress of the AKP in Bolu was held at the 17 July Sports Hall. The congress was attended by Minister of Family and Social Services Mahinur Özdemir Göktaş, AK Party Secretary General Fatih Şahin, district mayors, members of party organizations, and party members. Suat Güner was re-elected as the provincial head in the congress, which featured a single candidate. Party members filling the hall supported President Suat Güner by chanting slogans.
"70 BILLION LIRA INVESTMENT"
Speaking at the congress, Minister of Family and Social Services Mahinur Özdemir Göktaş said, "Approximately 70 billion liras of investment have been made in Bolu over 23 years. As the Ministry of Family and Labor, we have invested approximately 2 billion liras in this city. We have not neglected any of our citizens, whether they are women, children, the disabled, or the elderly.
We continue our efforts to protect and strengthen the family structure. We look to our future with hope through healthy and strong families. We have pioneered women's contributions in every field.
We have protected our children and supported our disabled citizens. We have worked day and night to make life easier for our martyrs' relatives and veterans.
Dear friends, Turkey today is the name of a strong stability, the hope of the oppressed, and a country moving further ahead. Let everyone know that now is Turkey's time. We will reach our Turkey Century goals in unity and solidarity," she said.
"HE PROUDLY RECOUNTS IT"
Minister Mahinur Özdemir Göktaş reacted to the statements made by Bolu Mayor Tanju Özcan in a program he attended, where he claimed that the decisions they made regarding Syrians in the city were unlawful. Minister Göktaş said, "There are men who see themselves as greater than the Republic of Turkey. There are men who say they do not recognize laws or rules. One of them is in Bolu.
He goes on air and proudly recounts his unlawful actions with arrogance. He shamelessly talks about the persecution he inflicts on Syria. I ask, has he ever seen the torture in Sednaya Prison? Did he feel anything when he saw them? I wonder what he felt? Are you not ashamed of the persecution inflicted on innocent people?
I ask my brothers and sisters. Who will put an end to this persecution inflicted on our brothers and sisters whom the Republic of Turkey and our nation have embraced? The beautiful people of Bolu will put an end to it. Who will put an end to it? The AK Party organizations will put an end to it.
We will put an end to it all together. While the whole world turned its back on our Syrian brothers and sisters, we became their 'ansar' (helpers) with the diligent leadership of our President. While some were engaging in populism and playing politics over the faces of our innocent brothers and sisters, you became the remedy for their troubles.
Thank God, Syria has attained its freedom today. Our brothers and sisters who took refuge in Turkey are returning to their countries after the overthrow of the Baath regime. Our wish from God is that Palestinian women and children also attain their freedom as soon as possible. We will continue to fight for this," she said.
