Minister Gürlek: 198 detained following the attack on the police point in Levent
Minister of Justice Akın Gürlek announced that 198 suspects have been detained in simultaneous operations conducted across 34 provinces against the DAESH terrorist organization, following the armed attack carried out by 3 terrorists on a police point in Levent, Istanbul.
In a post on his social media account, Minister of Justice Gürlek stated, "Following the armed attack carried out by 3 terrorists on the police point in Levent, Istanbul yesterday, simultaneous operations were conducted against the DAESH terrorist organization in 34 provinces under the coordination of our Chief Public Prosecutor's Offices.
Under the coordination of our chief public prosecutor's offices, 273 suspects were processed and 198 suspects were detained in operations carried out in the provinces of Adana, Afyonkarahisar, Antalya, Balıkesir, Batman, Çanakkale, Diyarbakır, Düzce, Eskişehir, Elâzığ, Erzurum, Erzincan, Gaziantep, Hatay, Istanbul, Izmir, Kahramanmaraş, Kayseri, Kırıkkale, Kilis, Kocaeli, Kütahya, Manisa, Mardin, Mersin, Osmaniye, Sakarya, Samsun, Sivas, Şanlıurfa, Trabzon, Van, Yalova, and Yozgat.
Under the leadership of our President, Mr. Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, our fight against terrorism will continue with determination in line with the goal of a 'Terror-Free Turkey,' within the framework of the principles of a state of law and with a zero-tolerance approach; operations against the DAESH terrorist organization will continue meticulously.
On this occasion, I convey my best wishes to our heroic police officers who were injured as a result of the terrorists' attack and wish them a speedy recovery," he said.
