Minister Işıkhan: We are setting the net minimum wage at 17,002 TL

President Erdoğan received the Minimum Wage Determination Commission, which consists of representatives from workers, employers, and the government. The meeting has concluded.

The TÜRK-İŞ delegation participated in the minimum wage negotiations. Ergün Atalay stated that there was no consensus.

The new minimum wage has been set at 17,002 Turkish Lira with a 49 percent increase.

MINISTER IŞIKHAN ANNOUNCED

Minister Işıkhan stated the following:

"Our Minimum Wage Determination Commission has completed its work to determine the new minimum wage amount.

I would like to thank TÜRK-İŞ President Ergün Atalay, TİSK President Özgür Akkol, and our commission members. They have reached a consensus by taking into account the current conditions of our country."

I believe that the new amount determined will satisfy all our citizens. Effective as of January 1, 2024, we have set it at 17,002 Turkish Liras."

TÜRK-İŞ: WE DEMANDED 18 THOUSAND LIRAS

TÜRK-İŞ President Atalay stated the following:

"We held a meeting with our President. It was a 27-day process. For the first time, we conveyed the official figure to the President two hours ago. Our demand was 18 thousand liras. We also requested that this negotiation be held twice a year. The agreed-upon figure is 17 thousand liras. I have explained TÜRK-İŞ's demand. Although this is a starting wage, it has become a living wage in my country. Let everyone think for a minute or two: can one make a living with this wage? As long as inflation does not stop, we cannot make a living with this figure once a year."

"WE WILL FILE A DISSENTING OPINION"

After Minister Işıkhan's statements concluded, Ergün Atalay turned to him and said, "We state once again here that we do not agree. We will file a dissenting opinion."
