Minister Kurum announces the number of homes damaged by fires

Minister of Environment, Urbanization and Climate Change Murat Kurum made statements in the İskenderun district of Hatay.

Conveying his 'get well soon' wishes regarding the fires that have occurred in recent days, Minister Kurum said, "As you know, in the Karşıyaka district of our İzmir, the fire spread to residential areas and industrial zones due to the effect of the wind. We rapidly dispatched our 5 separate damage assessment teams to the regions affected by the fire. We conducted our inspections in 52 buildings and 97 independent units in İzmir. We determined that 43 of these buildings and 45 independent units are heavily damaged, destroyed, or moderately damaged. As of now, the fire has been brought under control and cooling efforts are continuing."

'OUR CITIZENS SHOULD REST ASSURED'

Stating that they will rapidly conduct damage assessments in the Tire fire and the Urla fire that began last night once the cooling efforts are completed, Minister Kurum said, "Along with this, our Karayakup village was affected by the forest fire that broke out in the Boyalı neighborhood of our Manisa's Gördes district. We sent our 3 teams to the region to begin damage assessment work in the areas where cooling efforts have finished in our Boyalı and Karayakup villages. We have currently conducted inspections in 46 of our buildings and 66 independent units. We determined that 36 buildings and 52 independent units are heavily damaged, destroyed, or moderately damaged. Our citizens should rest assured. We are following the developments closely. Hopefully, just as we stood by our citizens in fires, floods, landslides, and earthquakes yesterday, we will quickly heal our wounds in these fires as well. I once again say get well soon to our dear nation."
