Minister Kurum explains the reason for the 18-30 age restriction in social housing: The youth category detail

Minister of Environment and Urbanization Murat Kurum stated, "Individuals between the ages of 18-30 who wish to apply for the social housing project in 81 provinces will not be able to apply if they do not meet the criteria."

In his statement to Ensonhaber regarding the application requirements for the 500,000-housing project aimed at low-income citizens, Minister Kurum said that young people between the ages of 18-30 will not be able to apply if their parents have any real estate registered in their names.

Kurum used the following expressions in his statement:

"Our young people between the ages of 18-30 cannot apply if there is any real estate registered to their parents. Citizens over the age of 30 can now apply, even if their parents have property. But we evaluate the 18-30 age group in the youth category.

Therefore, for our young people between the ages of 18-30, we check whether their mother or father owns a house. Because there are those who have more than one house. They may not have left an inheritance to their child, but they have the means. So, we evaluate it that way.

Therefore, young people between the ages of 18-30 cannot apply if their mother or father owns a house. In other words, even if they apply, they cannot be eligible. Here, we want at least one person from the family to acquire a home."

Applications for the project will be accepted between November 10 and December 19. The residences will be designed as 2+1 and 1+1, in accordance with horizontal architecture and traditional texture.

Special quotas have been created in the project for the families of martyrs, veterans, the disabled, retirees, young people, and families with 3 or more children.

Accordingly, a 5 percent quota will be provided for families of martyrs, victims of terror, war and duty, and veterans, as well as the disabled; a 10 percent quota for families with 3 or more children; and a 20 percent quota for retirees and young people between the ages of 18-30.
