Minister Memişoğlu receives 'Let's go on a diet' warning after measuring his body mass index

Health Minister Kemal Memişoğlu made a notable post on his social media account. The Minister had his body mass index (BMI) measured as part of the newly launched "Learn Your Ideal Weight, Live Healthy" campaign and shared the results with the public.

Responding to the "let's go on a diet" warnings directed at him after his body mass index came out above normal, Memişoğlu asked, "Which dietitian should I go to?"

In his statement, Memişoğlu said, "Dear young people, I am reading what you write on social media. You are truly very creative and fun. But the issue of excess weight is a serious matter."

Stating that with the new application, overweight individuals are being directed to family health centers and healthy living centers, Memişoğlu noted that free nutritional counseling and follow-up services will be provided to citizens there. Saying, "This service is a very important step in creating awareness and spreading a culture of healthy living," the Minister invited everyone to have their BMI measured.

Emphasizing that the campaign was implemented simultaneously across Turkey in 81 provinces, Memişoğlu stated that he had the measurement done voluntarily and called on young people to be a part of healthy living.
