Minister of Energy and Natural Resources Bayraktar: 'Operations in İliç are ongoing'

Minister of Energy and Natural Resources Alparslan Bayraktar made a statement on his X account regarding the mining disaster that occurred in the İliç district of Erzincan. Bayraktar stated that operations are continuing on the 35th day of the disaster.

Bayraktar's post is as follows:

"Our priority has not changed since the very first day. We are continuing our efforts to reach our 9 worker brothers by utilizing all our means and capabilities. We broke our fast with the families of our 9 worker brothers who remain under the soil in İliç. We shared the latest status regarding the operations on the field.

We will continue to stand by our families who have been waiting patiently since the very first moment.

In this blessed month of Ramadan, we do not withhold our prayers for our worker brothers, and I hope that the families' wait will come to an end as soon as possible."

WHAT HAPPENED?

On Tuesday, February 13, a landslide occurred in a large area where the Çöpler Gold Mine, owned by the Anagold company, is located in the İliç district of Erzincan. As a result of the landslide, 9 workers were trapped under soil washed with cyanide and sulfuric acid.

On March 16, a pickup truck, where 3 workers are believed to have been, was reached.
