Minister of Environment, Urbanization and Climate Change of the Republic of Türkiye Mehmet Özhaseki has resigned

There had been statements suggesting that some ministers in the cabinet would be changed.

While some names were being put forward, the first official statement came from the Minister of Environment, Urbanization and Climate Change of the Republic of Türkiye, Mehmet Özhaseki.

Özhaseki announced his resignation in a post on his social media account.

Özhaseki explained that he resigned from his post due to health problems with the following words:

My dear nation,

A long time ago; in 1994, upon the intense demand of our fellow citizens in Kayseri, I joined the caravan of service as mayor. Those were difficult years for Türkiye. In this journey that continued as the Mayor of Kayseri Metropolitan Municipality, I felt a deep spiritual pleasure in serving the city where I was born, and in putting effort and leaving a mark in every corner of it.

In the following years, it became our destiny to serve our country in many different fields. I served our beautiful Türkiye first as a Member of Parliament for Kayseri, then as AK Party Deputy Chairman, and finally as the Minister of Environment, Urbanization and Climate Change. Walking with our President throughout this period of service has always been a source of honor for us.

I undertook a historic responsibility to heal the wounds and rebuild our destroyed cities following the greatest natural disaster our country has ever faced. Thank God; at the point we have reached, significant progress has been made in solving the problems. The path has become clear, and the construction and revitalization activities to be carried out have been determined step by step.

Today, I have submitted to our President my request to leave this sacred duty I have undertaken due to my health problems.

Throughout the duties I have held, I have worked day and night, with the sole aim of obtaining the consent of God, without being involved in any worldly calculations. I took special care not to adopt an attitude that would not be in line with the scales of conscience. I have always kept alive my sensitivity to ensure that neither I nor my children consume any illicit food.

In the coming period, I will continue to serve as much as my health permits in the family foundation we will establish. My support for every endeavor that is beneficial for my country will, of course, continue.

I specifically ask our nation to grant me their blessings. I would like to express my gratitude to our President for the trust and favor he has shown.
