Minister of National Education Tekin's top agenda item is the 'Maarif Model': We will implement this system in a healthy way
Minister of National Education Yusuf Tekin made statements ahead of the new academic year. Tekin stated, "Our primary agenda this year is the healthy implementation of the Century of Turkey Maarif Model."
Minister of National Education Yusuf Tekin, in a statement made specifically for the new academic year, used the expression, "Our primary agenda this year is the healthy implementation of the Century of Turkey Maarif Model."
Stating that intensive consultations have been held regarding the short-term problems of schools and the education system, and that various legislative changes have been made as a result, Tekin announced that these changes will be shared with teachers by school administrators.
Minister Tekin emphasized the importance of the four different circulars sent to the provinces for the 2024-2025 academic year, using the following expressions:
"One of these is a circular that we shared with you regarding general situations and the content of the general regulations we have adopted. The second is a circular regarding the issues that governorates, provincial directorates of national education, and school administrators must comply with, and the measures that must be taken, concerning topics that have recently come to the public's attention, such as violence and peer bullying. With another circular, there is something I want to underline: this year, we have completed almost all of the transfers of our teacher colleagues based on excuses, both within provinces and between provinces. The third circular we sent was a circular containing issues related to the assignments of our teachers who are in excess of the norm or in excess of need in this sense. Our fourth circular is a circular we sent regarding the measures we have taken for the implementation of the 'Century of Turkey Maarif Model,' which we are eagerly awaiting in the 2024-2025 academic year, and its application in our schools and educational institutions. We sent all of these within a time frame of approximately one week."
Minister Tekin pointed out that each circular has a separate importance, and therefore stated that the circulars were sent separately to create awareness. Tekin asked teachers to read these circulars carefully during the professional development period before the academic year begins.
'OUR PRIMARY AGENDA IS THE MAARIF MODEL'
Stating that they want to implement the three important topics they have put on the agenda for the new academic year with the support of teachers, Minister Tekin continued as follows:
"One of these contained provisions regarding the measures to be taken for the best implementation of the Century of Turkey Maarif Model. Therefore, our primary agenda this year is the healthy implementation of the Century of Turkey Maarif Model. Our second important agenda is again one of the significant expectations the public has of us. We have carried out work to continue the breakthroughs initiated in recent years in vocational and technical education, which had reached the point of collapse due to the difficulties we experienced, especially during the February 28 process. On August 10, we published the 'Vocational and Technical Education Policy Document' with the signature of our President. Therefore, this is one of our second important topics in the new academic year. The third is our parents, the people who take the first step and form the core of our education system. Increasing school-parent cooperation to contribute to the academic and social development processes of our students is one of our important agenda items this year."
Minister Tekin stated that the harmony between the teachers, who are the implementers of all the projects put into practice, and the Ministry is of great importance for the quality of education, and said, "Being able to look in the same direction and lock onto the same goal together is very important. You are our first and most valuable stakeholders. It is very valuable for us that you are in constant development, that you grasp, internalize, embrace, and implement these projects."
Emphasizing the Century of Turkey Maarif Model, Tekin used the expressions, "We have opened the door to a new academic year together. And at this door we are opening, we need to move forward with this new light for the education and training of the children we have entrusted to you."
