Minister Özhaseki's statement on 'Küçükçekmece': 1.5 floors were built illegally!

In the 3-story building that collapsed in Küçükçekmece's Kartaltepe Neighborhood, 1 citizen has lost their life so far, while 8 people were injured. Information was shared that 1 person is still under the rubble.

Minister Özhaseki stated in his remarks regarding the wreckage that a portion of the structure was illegal.

ADDED AS "1.5 ILLEGAL FLOORS"

Özhaseki said the following:

"Minister Özhaseki: As a result of our initial examinations, it has been determined that the building was constructed 36 years ago and that 1.5 floors were later added illegally. Initial on-site inspections revealed that the building, constructed in 1988, was built without adhering to architectural and engineering standards, that sea sand was used in its construction, and that subsequent interventions were made that compromised the building's structural integrity."
