Minister Tekin: Our concern is the unity and brotherhood of our nation
Minister of National Education Yusuf Tekin, speaking at the opening of the Davut Sulari Public Education Center in the Çayırlı district of Erzincan, stated that significant steps have been taken during the AKP governments to resolve long-standing issues among different segments of society, saying, "Our concern is the unity of our nation and the continuation of the law of brotherhood and the thousands-year-old climate of fraternity in the Anatolian geography."
Touching upon the importance of the month of Muharram, Tekin stated that the folk poet Davut Sulari, who gave his name to the center, always used his saz for unity, solidarity, and brotherhood.
Expressing that there are no significant unresolved problems in the field of education in Erzincan, Tekin said that the Century of Turkey Education Model is based on the wisdom of Anatolia and an understanding that places the human being at the center.
Emphasizing that they strive to embrace all segments of society, Tekin stated that they consider it a duty to protect the rights and values of citizens who felt excluded in the past due to their faith, language, or origin.
Minister Tekin stated that transferring common values to children is one of the primary goals of the new education model, and said that with the "out-of-school learning environments" practice, students will first get to know the geography they live in.
Noting that within the scope of the practice, children will learn about the historical, cultural, touristic, and natural values of the provinces, districts, and towns they live in, Tekin explained that local works of art, sayings, and folk songs will also be included in the educational content.
Touching upon the work of the Alevi and Bektashi Culture and Cemevi Presidency established under the Ministry of Culture and Tourism, Tekin stated that the education modules prepared for Alevi-Bektashi citizens to pass on their faith and culture to their children have been completed.
Stating that a total of 12 modules for individuals under and over 13 years of age were prepared as a result of work that lasted approximately 2 years, Tekin expressed that the programs will begin to be implemented in a short time.
Following the speeches, Minister Tekin toured the center he opened and received information from the authorities. During the program, the "Erzincan Maarif Teachers' Choir," consisting of teachers, also gave a folk song performance.
