Minister Tekin's 'Tosun Paşa' reference: I enjoy watching what's happening in the CHP, but I am ashamed for my country

Stating that the CHP has been turned into a film set, Minister Tekin said the following:

"They have officially turned the great Republican People's Party into a film set. Believe me, as I watch what is currently happening within the Republican People's Party, there is a film directed by Kartal Tibet, his first as a director. You have all surely watched it. It is a film written and produced by Yavuz Turgul, titled Tosun Paşa. You remember it, right? 

Now, remember there were two families fighting there, the Seferoğulları and the Tellioğulları. In the Tellioğulları family, Şener Şen and Kemal Sunal play the lead roles. Şener Şen played the role of Lütfü Bey, if I remember correctly. Lütfü is the boss, the aga of the family. He is in love with Daver Bey's daughter, Leyla. He wants to marry her but cannot. He sets up a scheme and says, 'no one knows what Tosun Paşa looks like anyway,' and gives a role to Kemal Sunal, that is, Şaban, who serves the household. 

He says no one knows Tosun Paşa. You be Tosun Paşa. Let me take Daver Bey's daughter Leyla and the Green Valley (Yeşil Vadi). Now, there is exactly something like this going on in the CHP right now. There is an intriguing Lütfü. The intriguing Lütfü gave someone the role of Tosun Paşa. Now, Tosun Paşa, that is Şaban in that film, has also gotten too caught up in the role. He says, 'I will take Leyla.' Now, the fight between them is a fight over who will take Leyla? A fight over who will take the Green Valley? But I warn you, if you fight like this and the citizens see that you are making a film, you will neither reach the thing you are in love with nor will you get the Green Valley.

But I am warning both of them. Both are acting like they are on a film set. And we are watching with pleasure. I have said this before. Referring to our President's words; it is a world where we can buy popcorn and watch the developments within the CHP from afar. I enjoy watching what is happening in the CHP, but I am ashamed for my country.

Because in democratic countries, the parties we know as the main opposition or opposition parties, whether they are in power or in opposition, are the backbone of democratic political life; they are indispensable elements. Unfortunately, there is such an opposition in Turkey. On this occasion, I thank God that He did not deliver us into the hands of people who want to turn life into a film set, or into their power."
