Minister of Justice Yılmaz Tunç announced that inmates in the Ereğli district of Zonguldak have been transferred to nearby institutions due to the ongoing storm and heavy rainfall, stating the following:
"Due to rising water levels caused by heavy rainfall and storms at our Zonguldak Kdz. Ereğli K2 Type Penal Execution Institution, we are transferring the inmates housed in the prison to nearby institutions for safety reasons. There are currently no security issues regarding the 39 inmates who have been transferred to the Düzce T Type Penal Execution Institution."
