Minister Tunç: I strongly condemn the detention of our student
Minister of Justice Yılmaz Tunç, in a statement made via his social media account, strongly condemned the detention of university student Rümeysa Öztürk.
Making a statement regarding Rümeysa Öztürk, who was detained in America for sharing messages of support for Palestine, Minister of Justice Yılmaz Tunç used the following expressions:
"I strongly condemn the detention of our Turkish student Rümeysa Öztürk, who is pursuing her doctoral studies at Tufts University in the US state of Massachusetts.
It is unacceptable that Rümeysa Öztürk, who was targeted for being Muslim and supporting Palestine, has faced such an unjust practice.
The grievance experienced by our sister Rümeysa is proof that there is no freedom of thought and no respect for human rights in so-called democratic countries.
As Turkey, we are taking the necessary initiatives to ensure our sister is released as soon as possible."
ABD'nin Massachusetts eyaletindeki Tufts Üniversitesi'nde doktora eğitimi alan Türk öğrencimiz Rümeysa Öztürk'ün gözaltına alınmasını şiddetle kınıyorum.
