Minister Tunç: Investigation launched into CHP Group Deputy Chair Başarır
Minister of Justice Yılmaz Tunç announced in a statement on his social media account that an investigation has been launched into CHP Group Deputy Chair Başarır.
In his statement following Başarır's remarks regarding the AKP Chairman and President, Tunç used the following expressions:
"An investigation has been launched ex officio by the Ankara Chief Public Prosecutor's Office into Republican People's Party Group Deputy Chair Ali Mahir Başarır for the crime of 'Insulting the President' regarding the words he uttered against our President.
The words used by the Group Deputy Chair are ugly and inappropriate expressions that exceed the limits of freedom of expression and constitute a direct attack on personal rights.
No one can legitimize the language of hatred, insult, and slander.
The rule of law, just as it guarantees freedoms, is also the guarantor of respect for personal rights."
