Minister Tunç: Islamophobia is a crime against humanity

Minister of Justice Yılmaz Tunç, in a statement made on his social media account, declared that Islamophobia is a crime against humanity and a disease, emphasizing that remaining silent in the face of such discrimination is equivalent to siding with injustice.

"ISLAMOPHOBIA IS CONTRARY TO HUMAN RIGHTS"

In his statement, Minister Tunç underscored that every person, regardless of their identity, belief, or culture, possesses equal rights. Stating that "racism, discrimination, and marginalization are contrary to human rights," Tunç expressed that in many countries, Islamophobia targets Muslims and threatens social peace.

The post by Minister of Justice Yılmaz Tunç is as follows;

"Remaining silent in the face of Islamophobia, which is a human rights violation, is to side with injustice. Every person, regardless of their identity, belief, or culture, has equal rights. Racism, discrimination, and marginalization are contrary to human rights. Unfortunately, today, setting aside all notions of equality, Islamophobia in many countries targets Muslims and threatens social peace and unity. Combating Islamophobia is not only about defending Muslims but also about defending human dignity, peace, and social equality. A more just world where people's beliefs, origins, and identities are respected is certainly possible. As Turkey, which has never remained silent in the face of injustice anywhere, we will continue our struggle with determination for terrorism, racism, anti-Islam sentiment, xenophobia, and all victims whose rights are violated around the world, just as we have done until today."
