Minister Tunç warns critics of trustee appointments: 'The judiciary will hold them accountable' - 'There is no place for violence in a state of law'

Minister of Justice Yılmaz Tunç attended the closing program of the R&D Project Market, which was initiated by Bartın University (BARÜ) in 2017 and moved to an international scale for the first time this year.

Minister Tunç said, "If we did not have our seismic research vessels searching for natural gas and our national ships in the Black Sea, could we have discovered that natural gas? It was impossible. Because searches were conducted there before, we held tenders, foreigners took our money and said, 'You searched in vain, there is no natural gas here.'

They concreted it over and left. The same happened with oil. But now we are searching with our own national resources and our own national technology. Oil gushed out in Gabar. Natural gas in Filyos, right next to us in the Black Sea. National energy. Everything is interconnected.

National technology. Otherwise, how will we achieve independence in the economy? If a country progresses with its production in technology, energy, and value-added sectors, it becomes strong. It can also defend fairness and justice more strongly in the world. Hopefully, Turkey will continue its uninterrupted progress on this path. Do not have any doubt about this," he said.

JULY 15 AND TUSAŞ

Recalling the terrorist attack on TUSAŞ, which has an important place in national defense, Minister Tunç said, "We will never take a step back from our unity and solidarity, nor from our defense industry investments. These cannot intimidate us. They also attacked on July 15, 2016. It is the same, the same hand. The pawns seem different, but in fact, the pawns are the same as each other. The pawns holding that hand have now been exposed. Those who attacked on the night of July 15 and those who attacked TUSAŞ on October 23, the employers behind those subcontractors are the same. They are controlled from the same point. Our nation is now aware of this and realizes this. Because it is aware of this, our job is easier. From now on, we will continue on our path by dismantling those traps one by one," he said.

"WE WILL CONTINUE THE FIGHT AGAINST TERRORISM"

Emphasizing that the fight against terrorism will be continued decisively, Minister Tunç stated, "No one will be able to prevent our belief in our brotherhood from strengthening further, or our determination from becoming even more consolidated. We have never allowed terrorism to damage our spirit of national unity and brotherhood. We will not allow it from now on either. We will continue our fight against terrorism with determination to the end," he expressed.

"No one should turn a blind eye to terrorism targeting the peace, security, and future of our country and our people. Regardless of the justification, no one should definitely look favorably upon elements that incite violence or their extensions. They should not consent to it," said Minister Tunç, adding, "In no state of law in the world can terrorism, violence, and the acceptance of violence be tolerated. This is the case in our constitution, in the European Convention on Human Rights, and in the United Nations International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights. A state of law does not accept terrorism.

A state of law does not accept those who support terrorism. In a democratic state of law, the incitement of violence, the defense of violence, and reaching a position through violence are not accepted by a democratic state of law; violence is a crime, and inciting violence is a crime. Supporting the extensions of terrorism is a crime, and this is the case all over the world, in democratic countries, in states of law.

In Article 26 of our Constitution, in Articles 10-11 of the European Convention on Human Rights. In Article 19 of the United Nations International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights. There is no place for violence in a state of law; those who support violence are brought before the judiciary in a state of law, and the judiciary holds them accountable. Today, it does not befit anyone to criticize the investigations conducted by our judiciary regarding those who incite violence and those involved in terrorism, or to make speeches that effectively threaten our authorized judicial members and public prosecutors.

If you say, 'We believe in a democratic state of law and an impartial and independent judiciary,' you will not do this. You will wait for the results of those investigations; therefore, we will continue to defend our determination in the fight against terrorism by protecting our unity and solidarity as a whole, hopefully. We will never allow those who cannot distance themselves from terrorism, nor those who are pawns of imperialist powers, to disrupt our brotherhood. At any cost, we will protect the unity and integrity of our country, and we will never compromise on this struggle until the end," he said.
