Minister Tunç stated, "The sentence given is the highest sentence to date under the Animal Protection Law. The right to life of every living creature is sacred. We will continue to stand against all forms of mistreatment towards our dear animal friends."
WHAT HAPPENED?
An individual named İbrahim Keloğlan subjected a cat named Eros to violence for minutes, causing its death.
The court reduced the 3-year prison sentence to 2 years and 6 months due to good conduct and imposed a travel ban prohibiting the individual from leaving the country.
