Minister Uraloğlu announced: 'To Iran, Iraq, Syria and Jordan...'

Following the air strikes carried out by Israel against Iran, serious security risks have emerged in the Middle East airspace, and all flights from Turkey to the region have been temporarily halted. Minister of Transport and Infrastructure Abdulkadir Uraloğlu announced that all airline companies in Turkey, primarily Turkish Airlines (THY), have suspended their flights to Iran, Iraq, Syria, and Jordan until June 16.

Making a statement via his social media account, Minister Uraloğlu stated that after Israel's air operations against Iran, which began in the early hours of June 13, Iran, Iraq, Syria, and Israel closed their airspace to civilian flights. The Minister announced that Turkey has also temporarily halted air traffic to the region for flight safety reasons.

“The airspace of Israel, Iran, Syria, and Iraq has been temporarily closed to traffic. Within the scope of the issued NOTAMs, entry into the Tehran, Baghdad, and Israeli airspace is not possible. For this reason, our Directorate General of Civil Aviation and the relevant airline operators have acted in coordination to reschedule flight routes, with passenger and crew safety being treated as the primary priority,” said Uraloğlu, expressing that the process is being followed with sensitivity.

According to the statement, while all flights to these four countries have been suspended until Monday, June 16, it was stated that no passengers or personnel are at risk. It was also reported that crisis desks are active and developments are being evaluated in real-time.
