Minister Yerlikaya: 42 people detained in Saraçhane
Interior Minister Ali Yerlikaya announced that 42 people who attended the rally in Saraçhane on the 100th day of the imprisonment of CHP's presidential candidate and Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Ekrem İmamoğlu were detained on charges of insulting AKP Chairman and President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan and resisting security forces.
Minister Yerlikaya stated the following in a post on his social media account:
"This evening in Saraçhane, 42 individuals who insulted our President, Mr. Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, and resisted our security forces have been apprehended, and judicial proceedings have been initiated against them.
No one can turn the streets and squares of our country into an arena for attacking the national will.
No one can carry the poison of hatred and provocation into the streets under the mask of freedom.
I strongly condemn this mentality that insults our President."
