Minister Yerlikaya announces number of detentions related to forest fires
Interior Minister Yerlikaya provided information on individuals detained in connection with forest fires in a post on his social media account.
While efforts are underway to extinguish forest fires that have broken out in many parts of Turkey, detentions are also being carried out regarding individuals suspected of starting these fires.
Interior Minister Yerlikaya announced the number of detentions in a post on his social media account. Here is that post:
Across the country, a total of 19 forest fires occurred between August 15 and 17, 2024.
Suspected of causing forest fires;
3 individuals in the Tire district of İzmir,
2 individuals in the Ödemiş district,
1 individual in the Bayındır district, and
1 individual in the Karşıyaka district, totaling 7 individuals, have been detained.
Of the 4 individuals detained in the Göynük district of Bolu, 2 have been arrested, and judicial control measures have been imposed on the other 2.
