Minister Yerlikaya announces: 'Terror propaganda' and 'unlicensed weapon' operation
Interior Minister Ali Yerlikaya announced on X that 1,668 weapons were seized and 2,038 suspects were detained across 78 provinces as part of the "Mercek-9" operations. Yerlikaya also stated that 170 account managers and users who made provocative statements regarding martyrs have been identified, and that 133 of these suspects are abroad.
Interior Minister Ali Yerlikaya announced the details of the "Mercek-9" operations on X.
Yerlikaya stated the following:
"In the 'MERCEK-9' operations organized against individuals carrying unlicensed weapons and arms smugglers in 78 provinces, a total of 1,668 weapons were seized, including 1,230 unlicensed pistols, 163 blank-firing pistols, 50 long-barreled rifles, and 225 unlicensed hunting rifles. 2,036 suspects were detained."
Yerlikaya also stated the following regarding accounts that made provocative statements targeting martyrs:
"So far, 170 account managers and users have been identified as suspects for praising the Separatist Terror Organization (BTÖ), conducting propaganda, and publicly spreading misleading information on social media regarding our heroic Mehmetçik (soldiers) who were martyred and the Claw-Lock Operation zone! It has been determined that 133 of the suspects are abroad, and judicial proceedings have been initiated against them!"
