In his statement on social media, Minister Yerlikaya said, "Our Police Chief Mehmet Baran, who was serving as the Acting District Police Chief of Pazarcık in Kahramanmaraş, has passed away following an illness.
May God have mercy on my brother Mehmet; I extend my condolences to his family, our heroic Police Force, and our Nation. May his place be in heaven and his rank be high," he stated.
