Minister Yerlikaya announces: Zonguldak's Ereğli district declared a Disaster Area

Minister Yerlikaya announces: Zonguldak's Ereğli district declared a Disaster Area

Due to heavy rainfall and storms that occurred in Zonguldak on Sunday, the Kafkametler ship ran aground and sank. 4 citizens lost their lives in the region.

Interior Minister Ali Yerlikaya announced via his X account that the Karadeniz Ereğli district has been declared a General Life-Affecting Disaster Area, stating the following:

"Due to the landslides and flood disasters that occurred in the Karadeniz Ereğli district as a result of the heavy rainfall experienced in our Zonguldak province on Sunday, November 19: According to the assessments made by the Provincial Directorate of Environment, Urbanization and Climate Change, 133 roof collapses were identified. In the damage assessments conducted by the Defterdarlık (Tax Office) Damage Assessment Group, 54 residences and 226 workplaces have been damaged so far. In the studies conducted by the AFAD Provincial Directorate, a report was prepared stating that 10 residences were affected by landslides, 1 residence was permanently evacuated, and measures were required for 9 residences. In the assessments made so far by the Provincial Directorate of Agriculture, 135 greenhouses and 76 fishing boats were damaged. As of today, our Karadeniz Ereğli district has been declared a General Life-Affecting Disaster Area."
