Minister Yerlikaya speaks on Rana, who lost her life in a dog attack: 'We have assigned inspectors'

Announcing that 2 inspectors have been assigned, Minister Yerlikaya said, "Stray animals are not being collected. There are those who do not perform this duty properly. We cannot manage the process by pretending. Governorates and mayors will all sit down together and either do this job, or I will use the authority that the law grants me to the fullest extent."

Speaking at the 'Peace of Turkey' meeting in Kars, Minister Yerlikaya's statements are as follows:

"Stray animals are not being collected. There are those who do not perform this duty properly. The commission to be established will work as follows: It will be checked every month whether the numbers have increased. As in the painful incident in Konya, we have sent inspectors as a ministry whenever such incidents occurred in many cities before. We tell them: Go and look. I promise from now on. I am calling out from here to 30 metropolitan cities and 51 provinces. We must fulfill this responsibility, the requirement of this law. We love our animals, we all love them. I have 3 cats at home.

We must implement the law regarding stray animals. Today, we are holding a life safety and peace meeting. We cannot manage the process by pretending. Governorates and mayors will all sit down together and either do this job, or I will use the authority that the law grants me to the fullest extent. So that our 2-year-old Rana does not go to the grave as a child in the prime of her life again."
