Minister Yerlikaya: We stand with our Syrian brothers

Minister Yerlikaya, in a statement made on his social media account,statedthat, "When the Syrian civilwar began, in accordance with our historical heritage and civilizational values, under the leadership of our President, Mr. Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, we embraced our Syrian brothersin accordance with human rights and the law.We became a beacon of hope for them during their most difficult times. Exactly one yearago, Syrian freedom wasreunited with their homeland. The oppression in Syriahas taken its place in the darkpages of history.

And following these historic developments in Syria after December 8, voluntary returns have gained momentum. Now, we are no longer hearing news of separation, pain, and tears from Syria; instead, we are receiving news of our Syrian brothers and sisters reuniting with their homeland, their soil, and their relatives. From different countries around the world, sSyrians who were forced to seek refuge are rushing to their homeland to rebuild their country, to make their countrystronger for their childrenand grandchildren,he said.

Announcing that 578,000 Syrians have returned to their country sinceDecember 8, when the Assad regime was overthrown,MinisterYerlikaya stated,"Following December 8, 2024, 578,000 Syrians have returned from our country to Syria in avoluntary, safe, dignified, and orderly manner. In the 2016-2025 period, a total of 1 million 318 thousand brothersour work on Syria'svoluntary returnprocess. The voluntary returnprocedures of our Syrian brothers are being managed under the coordination of our Presidency of MigrationManagement and all relevantinstitutions.with ourhigh sensitivity and diligence. During their time in Turkey,throughoutthe period they learned Turkishand built strongbondswith our society, our Syrian brothers will continue to maintain the bond between the Turkish and Syrian people after returning to their countryas ambassadors of goodwill between themto continue keeping this bridge of friendshipalive, I sincerelybelieve.Thisprocess is notjust a returnjourney.I would like to state that this is not just a movement, but also signifies the reconstruction of neighborly relations.
