Minister Yerlikaya's son reportedly living in a 55,000 lira complex for 6,700 lira
It has been alleged that Ahmet Yerlikaya, the son of Interior Minister Ali Yerlikaya, is living for 6,700 lira in a residential complex where rents range between 55,000 and 95,000 lira online.
Interior Minister Ali Yerlikaya’s son, Ahmet Yerlikaya, is alleged to be paying only 6,700 TL for an apartment owned by the General Directorate of Foundations.
According to a report by İsmail Arı from BirGün, Ahmet Yerlikaya resides in an apartment owned by the General Directorate of Foundations in the 5. Levent neighborhood of Istanbul's Eyüpsultan district. Yerlikaya, who has been living there since 2019, pays a rent of only 6,719 TL.
RANGES BETWEEN 55 THOUSAND AND 95 THOUSAND LIRA
Online listings indicate that rents for apartments in the complex where Yerlikaya resides are being requested between 55,000 and 95,000 TL.
The complex was also built by the company of Aziz Torun, who is known for being a friend of President and AKP Chairman Recep Tayyip Erdoğan from their time at the Imam Hatip school, and for the construction project on the Ali Sami Yen Stadium land in Mecidiyeköy where 10 workers lost their lives.
Ahmet Yerlikaya has not made any statement regarding the matter.
THEY HAD DEMANDED A 1000 PERCENT HIKE IN HATAY
The General Directorate of Foundations, which previously raised rents in the Hatay Arsuz residences from 1,800-2,400 lira to 18,000 lira, most recently demanded a 1000 percent hike from its tenants in Eskişehir.
CHP Eskişehir Deputy Utku Çakırözer reacted to the exorbitant hike in his statement, saying, “A 3,000 lira fee was increased to 30,000 lira. This is immoral, it is unconscionable.”
