Minister Yerlikaya's statement on Operation Çengel: 216 suspects detained in counterfeit alcohol operation ahead of New Year's

Interior Minister Ali Yerlikaya shared a post on his X account.

The statement, which reported that 216 individuals were detained as part of 'Operation Çengel', included the following remarks:

In order to prevent the trade of illicit and counterfeit alcoholic beverages, which threaten the life safety and health of our nation and also cause our country to suffer a large amount of tax loss, 'Operation Çengel' was carried out by our 81 provincial Police Departments under the coordination of our General Directorate of Security's Department of Anti-Smuggling and Organized Crime,

In these operations: 30,126 liters of ethyl alcohol, 15,300 liters of illicit counterfeit alcoholic beverages, 3,132 bottles of illicit counterfeit alcoholic beverages, 1,497 empty bottles, 2,364 excise stamps, 2,658 alcohol flavorings, and 2,134 labels were seized. 

25 illegal "Counterfeit and Illicit Alcoholic Beverage Production Facilities" were identified. Provincial units of the Revenue Administration also participated in the operation. In a joint assessment made with the Revenue Administration, a tax loss of approximately 43 million TL was prevented.
