Minister Yumaklı announces latest status: 110 out of 115 fires brought under control

As efforts to combat fires in various regions of Turkey continue, Minister of Agriculture and Forestry İbrahim Yumaklı provided information on the latest situation. Yumaklı announced that a total of 115 fires, 69 of which were non-forest fires, have been responded to since yesterday, and 110 of them have been completely brought under control.

Minister Yumaklı stated that the three fires in Balıkesir Edremit, Çanakkale Ayvacık, and Antalya Kumluca, which were previously described as being "largely under control," have now been fully contained.

Efforts to combat the fires continued from the ground throughout the night and from the air with the arrival of daylight.

Stating that work is ongoing to fully contain the fires in Balıkesir Gömeç, Antalya Kaş, and Muğla Seydikemer, Yumaklı said that teams continued their interventions from the ground throughout the night and with aerial vehicles as soon as it became light.

Yumaklı emphasized that bringing the fires fully under control also means that cooling operations are being carried out simultaneously. The Minister stated that significant progress will be made in cooling activities in these areas.

EFFORTS CONTINUE IN ALANYA AND FETHİYE

Commenting on the forest fire in Antalya Alanya, Yumaklı noted that wind speeds reached up to 84 kilometers per hour during the night. "The danger has not yet passed; our interventions will continue throughout the day," Yumaklı said.

It was reported that the risk persists in the Alanya fire due to the effect of the wind.

Stating that the wind is expected to ease slightly towards noon, Yumaklı pointed out that high-intensity winds could be encountered again starting from the evening hours. The Minister used the phrase, "Our struggle will continue until the last fire is extinguished."

Announcing that a new fire broke out in the Üzümlü area of Muğla's Fethiye district around 02:00 at night, Yumaklı stated that it is a dangerous spot due to the area being covered with dense forests. It was noted that the energy of the fire was largely reduced through the rapid intervention of the teams and that cooling efforts are ongoing.
