Minister Yumaklı announces the status of dams following the earthquake
Minister of Agriculture and Forestry İbrahim Yumaklı made a statement following the earthquake that occurred in Istanbul.
Making a statement regarding the Istanbul earthquake, Minister of Agriculture and Forestry İbrahim Yumaklı stated, "Immediately following the earthquake that occurred in Istanbul, our DSI teams reached the Büyükçekmece Dam, located approximately 40 km from the epicenter, and no structural issues were detected in the initial inspections."
In a statement on his social media account, Yumaklı noted that there were no problems with the dams in the surrounding provinces due to the 6.2 magnitude earthquake.
"THE SAFETY OF OUR DAMS HAS BEEN CONFIRMED"
Stating that no structural issues were detected in the initial inspections, Yumaklı included the following in his statement:
"Immediately following the earthquake that occurred in Istanbul, our DSI teams reached the Büyükçekmece Dam, located approximately 40 km from the epicenter, and no structural issues were detected in the initial inspections. Preliminary assessments have also been carried out on all our dams located within the provincial borders of Istanbul and in the surrounding provinces, and the safety of our dams has been confirmed.
