Minister Yumaklı's statement on diesel and fertilizer support: 'We have reduced it to 13 products'

Agricultural writer Ali Ekber Yıldırım claimed that the diesel, fertilizer, and premium support provided to farmers had been abolished for 17 products.

Following Yıldırım's statements, the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry issued a statement regarding the claim that diesel and fertilizer support paid to farmers would be abolished starting in 2025, stating, "Diesel and fertilizer support has not been abolished. In the new period, its definition has been revised as 'basic support' determined based on basic input costs (diesel and fertilizer)."

While the debate over the abolition of the diesel and fertilizer support given to farmers continues, Minister of Agriculture and Forestry İbrahim Yumaklı, speaking on a CNN Türk live broadcast, said, "We have determined the basic supports, planning support, and production development support by using fertilizer and diesel as an anchor."

"WE HAVE REDUCED IT TO 13 PRODUCTS"

Stating, "We have reduced the diesel and fertilizer support we provided to a product basis," Yumaklı said, "We have reduced it to 13 products. We have determined how much diesel and fertilizer is used in these. This figure will continue to be updated in the coming periods. It was the end of July, there was nearly 6 billion in support that had been deposited into farmers' accounts but not withdrawn. It had lost its effectiveness."

Yumaklı said, "When we say 13+1, the strategic products are cereals, legumes, and oilseeds. For example, cereals like wheat and barley. I was giving 185 liras of diesel and fertilizer support. Wherever you plant wheat and barley, you will receive basic support. Anyone who produces in Turkey will receive basic support. If wheat is planted in the designated basins, I will provide planned production support because it complies with this plan. Additionally, water restriction support will be provided. Previously, 185 liras were given; this year it is 342 liras. I also provided the planned production support. If I have designated that wheat should be planted there, I will provide an additional 342 liras," he said.
