Ministry approves 3 new zoning changes on the Kanal Istanbul route! It also covers those areas...
Three separate zoning plan changes in Arnavutköy, located on the Kanal Istanbul route, have been approved by the Ministry and suspended for public review. The regulations also cover Dursunköy and its surroundings, which have been the subject of previous debates.
AKP Chairman and President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan’s so-called "Crazy Project," Kanal Istanbul, has seen a new development.
According to a report by Birgün, three separate zoning plan changes along the Kanal Istanbul line have been approved by the Ministry of Environment, Urbanization and Climate Change. It was announced that the plans in question have been put through the suspension process. According to the announcements made on February 3, February 5, and February 9, all three plans are located within the borders of Istanbul’s Arnavutköy district.
In the announcement dated February 3, it was reported that a zoning plan change covering a part of the Yenişehir Reserve Building Area in the Boyalık and Baklalı neighborhoods of Istanbul’s Arnavutköy district was approved by the Ministry on January 26. It was stated that the regulation made in the area, which has a total size of 333 thousand square meters, is intended to reduce population and building density. It was noted that within the scope of the plan, places of worship were increased while residential areas were reduced.
In the statement dated February 5, it was reported that a change was made to the zoning plan covering the Türkköşe Stream and its surroundings in the Arnavutköy district. It was reported that the implementation zoning plan change, approved on January 28, covers an area of 72 thousand 478 square meters. It was noted that with the regulation, a "municipal service area" was added to the site while residential areas were narrowed.
ZONING IMPLEMENTATION APPROVED IN DURSUNKÖY
In the final announcement dated February 9, it was stated that a zoning implementation regarding a part of the Yenişehir Reserve Building Area, covering block 144, parcel 13 and block 148, parcels 6, 7, 8, and 9 in the Dursunköy neighborhood of Arnavutköy district, has been approved. It was stated that the implementation was prepared in accordance with the provisions of Article 18 of the Zoning Law No. 3194 and entered into force with the "approval" of the Ministry.
THE REGION AT THE CENTER OF DEBATES
It was noted that the zoning implementation approved by the Ministry is located in the Dursunköy neighborhood, where the Yenişehir Houses—which were previously the subject of debates between Ekrem İmamoğlu and AKP members—are located. It was recalled that the issue was taken to court after it was announced that İSKİ would not provide water to the residences being built in the region. It was pointed out that criticisms have increased due to the area's proximity to Sazlıdere, and a recently published report highlighted that the Kanal Istanbul project would completely eliminate Sazlıdere.
