Ministry approves: That district of Kocaeli is being relocated!

A decision has been made regarding the relocation of the center of the Dilovası district in Kocaeli, one of Turkey's most important industrial hubs, which frequently makes headlines due to cancer cases.

According to a report by Gazete Duvar, under the decision approved by the Ministry of Environment, Urbanization and Climate Change, the first step will involve relocating neighborhoods that are intertwined with industrial facilities in the district center. With this approval from the Ministry, the zoning plan amendment prepared for a 26-hectare area has become official, and the Tavşancıl neighborhood, located in the north of the Dilovası district, will be relocated.

TO BE CARRIED OUT IN COOPERATION WITH THE MUNICIPALITY AND TOKİ

While the decision has been suspended for public review, the first of the 9 designated stages of the area will be carried out in cooperation with the Kocaeli Metropolitan Municipality and TOKİ.

The report, which also explains the reason for the district's relocation, included the following statements:

"Industrial growth will inevitably bring air pollution and traffic congestion. With the plan amendment to be made within the boundaries of the aforementioned 1st stage region, it is aimed to decentralize the industrial zones and intertwined, unhealthy residential areas in the Dilovası district center according to planned urbanization criteria, thereby improving areas that pose a risk to human health and suffer from sustainability issues."

13 THOUSAND HOUSES WILL BE BUILT

On the other hand, former Dilovası Mayor Hamza Şayir had stated in information he provided regarding the relocation of the district that 13 thousand new houses would be built in the medium term.
