Ministry inspection at Bedri Usta: 4,000 TL bill under review

A restaurant customer shared a post criticizing their experience after paying a 4,000 TL bill for a meal. The customer shared the restaurant's receipt, expressing their reaction to the high bill amount. Following the post, the business owner, Bedri Usta, drew attention with his response to the criticism on his social media account. Usta shared the receipt on his own account in response to the criticism, addressing the customer by saying, "You have few followers, let me share it so people can see a real man."

INVESTIGATION LAUNCHED BY THE MINISTRY OF TRADE

Following the business owner's response, an investigation was launched by the Ministry of Trade. Ministry officials conducted an inspection at the restaurant's branch in Kadıköy-Fenerbahçe on December 30, 2025, following the incident. Within the scope of the inspections, it was reported that 5 different products offered for sale by the restaurant were taken under review for unfair price increases.

Ministry of Trade Press Consultant Kaplan shared the details of the inspections in a statement on his social media account. Kaplan provided the following information in his statement:

“In the inspections carried out by the Istanbul Provincial Directorate of Trade teams, 5 separate products at the business were evaluated for unfair price increases. In addition, purchase-sale invoices, cost documents, and the business's defense for the last 3 months have been obtained. As a result of the examinations, misleading and deceptive information was found on the business's price labels, in violation of the Price Label Regulation. Following these findings, administrative action has been taken against the business.”
