When an allegation that a 16-year-old girl was to be forced into marriage began circulating on social media, the Ministry of Family and Social Services took immediate action. Following the post on a social media account, the ministry issued a statement announcing that police units had initiated proceedings and that the child would be placed under state protection.
In the written statement issued by the ministry, it was stated: "Following the post on a social media account claiming that a '16-year-old girl will be forced into marriage,' the following statement has been deemed necessary. Immediately after the reported post, our Istanbul Provincial Directorate teams and police units took action. Following the completion of the procedures by the police units, the child in question will be placed under state protection, and the legal process will be closely monitored by the ministry."
